Bella’s First Official Haircut

My daughter, Bella James (who turns 3 in November), got her first official haircut on Friday, August 13th, 2010. I, of course, decided to record it. That’s just what dads do. She did great. (And it didn’t even hurt … unlike a few months ago when we got her ears pierced). She’s my beautiful princess. She could be bald and she’d still be beautiful. Even though that’d be a little weird…

Party at the Park

Thanks for praying for our little ones. They have been feeling a ton better so I decided it was time for a party at the park!

Jesus Cleanses Sin?

My wife sent me this picture from Huntington Beach, California today. She’s visiting her family for a few days, celebrating her grandmother’s 80th birthday!

The sign reads that “Jesus Cleanses Sin.” Kind of funny wording if you ask me. I don’t know about you but I don’t want my sin cleansed, I want it forgiven and forgotten.

I get what they are saying and I appreciate it greatly what they are doing for the Kingdom of God. This type of ministry is definitely not within my gifting. I just thought it was interesting how one simple saying can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people.

Rootbeer Friday with Boylan

At the advice of one of my Facebook buddies, we headed on over to World Market in Keizer. Their selection of different rootbeers is quite remarkable – probably 15 or more brands, both imported and from the US. Most I’ve never heard of.

That’s exactly what we want to do – bring the world of rootbeer to our humble West Coast abode.

Today we grabbed a few Boylan Bottleworks Root Beer longnecks, made in the beautiful state of New Jersey. Registered in 1891, they boast that their rootbeer is sweetened with pure cane sugar. And boy was it yummy!

Cutting it up at the Bite of Salem.

Ben-G

We got Ben a Batman hat.
It looks a little gansta on him.
So we decided to start calling him Ben-G.
He’s still cute though.

At the root of rootbeer

I’ve been thinking about starting some fun traditions within my family; little things to draw us closer to one another. Specifically, with my kids, I’ve started Rootbeer Fridays. A time where the kids and I go to different places, trying different brands of rootbeer each week.

This week, to start us off right, we grabbed a few Henry Weinhard’s Original Recipe Rootbeer longnecks.

Hopefully as the weeks progress, we’ll be able to try 52 different kids of brands. I think I’m looking forward to it more than my kids…
